How do I feel?

May 6, 2026 by Chad Leave a Comment

I am tired of pretending I am okay all the time just to make other people comfortable.

Truthfully, I feel everything deeply. Probably too deeply for this world sometimes. I carry pain, love, empathy, loneliness, hope, fear, passion, and sorrow all at the same damn time. Some people see intensity. I see humanity.

I have lived through a severe traumatic brain injury, and unless you have been through something similar, you probably have no fucking idea how much it changes you. Recovery is not just “getting better.” It changes how you think, how you process emotions, how you connect, how you trust, and sometimes even how you survive day to day. Some days I feel strong as hell. Other days, I feel shattered and exhausted from fighting battles nobody can even see.

And honestly? I cry. A lot. Not because I am weak. Because I actually allow myself to feel.

I am more emotionally in tune than most people I meet. I notice energy shifts. I notice tone changes. I notice when someone is hurting behind a fake smile. I notice when people withdraw. I notice when someone feels unseen because I know exactly what that shit feels like.

Loneliness is fucking brutal when you are someone who genuinely accepts people.

That is the part I struggle with the most.

I can sit with broken people: Traumatized people. Weird people. Emotional people. Neurodivergent people. People with scars, baggage, flaws, anxiety, darkness, or pain. I do not judge people for being human, but do they do the same for me?.

Why is it so hard for people to offer that same acceptance back?

Why do people preach authenticity until someone is actually raw and real?

People say they want honesty, depth, emotion, vulnerability, and connection… until they are standing in front of someone who actually lives that way every day.

I am not shallow. I am not surface-level. I cannot do fake relationships, fake conversations, fake smiles, or fake energy. I would rather sit in silence than perform some bullshit version of myself just to fit in.

But despite all of that pain, I still know who I am.

I am compassionate as fuck.
I care deeply about people.
I love hard.
I am loyal.
I show up.
I listen.
I try to understand before judging.
I fight for people I care about.
I have survived things that could have easily destroyed me completely.

And somehow, despite all the hurt, I still choose kindness more often than bitterness.

I know I am not everybody’s cup of tea. I know I can be intense. Emotional. Passionate. Overthinking. Sensitive. Sometimes chaotic. Sometimes wounded. Sometimes too honest for people who are hiding from themselves.

But I am fucking real!

And in a world full of masks, performance, ego, and emotional unavailability, I am learning that being real is actually one of my greatest qualities.

So this is me. No filter. No fake positivity. No pretending.

Just a human being trying to heal, trying to connect, trying to be understood, and trying not to lose himself in the process.

I leave you with this: don’t say something, and when you meet your match, you coward away.

FUCK!
